About this piece

I designed this as a tactile Mother's Day gift and as an experiment in making mathematical patterns feel natural in the hand. The vase is 120 mm wide and 200 mm tall, with 233 raised scale-like elements placed around the surface using a phyllotaxis spiral. The body tapers from a 120 mm base to an 80 mm upper body, then flares at the rim. The raised scales grow from smaller to larger as they climb the vase, so the texture changes as your fingers move upward. It is meant for artificial flowers, dried stems, floral foam or display. It is not designed to hold water.

Why I made it this way

  • I use the Fibonacci growth pattern to make a surface that feels ordered but organic.
  • I make the raised scales grow from bottom to top for a stronger tactile progression.
  • I keep the wall and rim parametric so the shape can be adjusted.
  • I include a 50 mm inner socket for floral foam or artificial stems.
  • I designed it as a decorative tactile object, not a watertight vase.

What arrives

If you choose the printed option, I send the planter cleaned, checked and ready to display. Use it with artificial flowers, dried stems or an insert that protects the print from water.
